"If you are asking, do I drop to me knees and pray for guidance, no. But do I have faith and is it important, yes. My own faith is there, it's not always the rock that perhaps it should be. I've a sort of fairly classic Church of England faith, a faith that grows hotter and colder by moments....I was a good sceptical, questioning Christian when I was younger. I liked to think it through, thinking am I really sure about this? But I don't feel I have a direct line [to God]."
"I'm very happy in the Church of England where there's plenty of room for flexibility. I have a faith but don't push me too hard on things like the virgin birth or transubstantiation and so on, I might not come up trumps."
This is a repeat of previous opinions he's expressed, and he's recycled the line that 'I don't feel I have a direct line', and Mouse is pleased that Cameron is finally speaking about this a little more. On the one hand, Mouse feels this is quite an open and honest way to approach his faith, but on the other he does seem to be pitching it in a way that hedges his bets a little.
